Dolphins Basketball Club

Our Commitment to Basketball Victoria Policies

The Dolphins Basketball Club is a member of Geelong United Basketball Association, which is affiliated with Basketball Victoria. As an affiliated club of Basketball Victoria, we are committed to upholding and operating under all policies, codes, and governance frameworks set by the governing body.

These policies are in place to ensure safe, inclusive, fair, and professional standards are maintained across all levels of the game. By participating in our club — whether as a player, coach, volunteer, official, or supporter — you agree to follow the rules, responsibilities, and expectations outlined in Basketball Victoria’s policies.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

The safety and wellbeing of all children and young people involved in our club is our highest priority. We are committed to providing an environment that is safe and inclusive for all children and young people and take our obligations under the Victorian Child Safe Standards seriously. We adopt and adhere to Basketball Victoria’s Child Safe Policy and Child Safe Code of Conduct, which provide clear guidelines to ensure a child-safe environment through appropriate recruitment, training, reporting, and behaviour expectations for all members.

To speak to our Child Safety and Wellbeing Officer about our commitment to child safety or to report a child safety concern please contact childsafety@dolphinsbasketball.org.au

Code of Conduct

We value Respect, Integrity, Determination and a willingness to learn. All players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators are required to follow Basketball Victoria’s Code of Conduct, which outlines appropriate behaviour on and off the court.

Forfeit Policy

It is preferred that all teams make every effort to avoid forfeiting games. Forfeits are not covered by player registration fees, and when incurred, the associated costs charged by GUB are funded through alternative income sources such as fundraising. To ensure fairness, accountability, and to minimize the financial burden on the club, the following forfeit policy is in place.

Team Selection & Training Intent

As a Basketball Club, it is likely that players will be a part of several teams throughout their time with the Dolphins. All players are encouraged to play at a level where they are challenged and competitive to allow for the development of themselves as well as others on their team.

It is the intent of the club to field at least 2 team in each age group, that consist of the most competitive players in that age group.
